Lally Rementilla

Lally Rementilla is a distinguished and entrepreneurial figure in the financial industry and innovation ecosystem, known for her leadership, strategic acumen, creativity and relentless drive to help companies grow by leveraging intellectual property to obtain financing.

Her journey started in the telecommunications, media and technology sectors where she held senior finance roles in fast growing companies such as Lucent Technologies Canada, Lavalife Corp and Nulogy Corporation and co-founded a sports e-newsletter for professional women called The Gal’s Got Game.

In 2015, she crossed over to the investment industry where she helped launch Quantius, a Canadian private credit fund that pioneered IP-backed lending, which she ultimately led as CEO.  The Quantius Innovation Income Fund was a winner in the 2019 Canadian Hedge Funds awards.

In 2020, she joined BDC Capital (the investment arm of the Business Development Bank of Canada) as Managing Partner.  In July 2020, she led the launch of IP-Backed Financing, a first of its kind fund that makes debt and equity investments to accelerate the growth of companies with strong IP strategies and rich intellectual property portfolios.

A thought leader in the intersection of IP and finance, she contributed a chapter in the book Intellectual Property Management for Start-Ups and has spoken in forums hosted by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), European Union (EU), International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC), Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), International Trademark Association (INTA), IP Business Congress (IPBC) and the Korean Presidential Council on Intellectual Property (PCIP).

In addition, she has served on the boards of the Innovation Asset Collective (Canada’s first patent collective), the Information Technology Association of Canada and Interaxon.  She has sat on the investment committees of the Canada Council for the Arts, Grand Challenges Canada and Pique Ventures. She has volunteered as a mentor in the Creative Destruction Lab and was the Canadian lead for the Billion Dollar Fund for Women.

Lally has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the Ateneo de Manila University, a Master of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business at York University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant. She lives in Toronto with her husband and two daughters (who each agree to play tennis and golf with their mother).
